About Gothenburg Fringe

The Gothenburg Fringe is an explosion of creativity. Join us at unique and unexpected venues across the city for uncensored, cutting-edge performance art which stimulates, educates and entertains.

Heading into our eighth year, we are not making the festival bigger but it will be bolder with a 10-day event, providing the people of Gothenburg with a festival experience like no other. With over 150 performances of all shapes and sizes, there's a show out there for you - this is art for everyone!

Chernobyl Survivor  5/9

Meet Donatas Kveselys, the fresh face of European comedy hailing from Lithuania, boasting the longest wingspan in show business. His solo show "Chernobyl Survivor" explores the quirks of his life in Sweden through comedic commentary on Swedish society from an outsider's perspective. He also talks about his Eastern European upbringing and the universal struggles of adulthood through a blend of storytelling and humor. Get ready to be captivated by his comedic journey, covering everything from awkward family encounters to facing fears, all delivered with charm and wit.

This year Danatas started breaking into UK comedy scene and has won every comedy competition he entered, including the famous King Gong at the London Comedy Store. Donatas made waves in the Roast Battle League 2024, securing the 3rd spot in the International West division with a comedic style reminiscent of Connor McSpadden and Daniel Tosh.

Judge Ricky 5/9

Join the honourable Judge Ricky in his Kangaroo Court, where your fate will be placed in the hands of guest artists acting as the prosecution and defence lawyers.

The cases are created by you, the audience, who accuse friends or family of various light-hearted crimes by filing a charge before the show starts - if you want to.

Charges are chosen at random, those chosen come up and testify, the “lawyers” make their case, the audience decides the verdict and Judge Ricky lays down the law.

Tickets can be booked for free and you're welcome to donate to the performers at the show.

The Weird Sisters 6/9 & 8/9

Bibby and Barth present "The Weird Sisters Café: The Festival Édition".

The Weird Sisters - Éloïse et Louise - try their very best to run a festival café with the resources they have. Since they are now in Gothenburg, away from their Oslo-based café, they have to find new creative methods to cater to their guests. Expect the unexpected in this interactive performance that combines lip syncs, clown acts and bizarre glamour. The two French sisters invite you to come explore their menu and see what you get.

Bibby and Barth both have their backgrounds in physical theatre. In their current project they work as a drag-clown duo, and have been exploring the theatrical potential of drag since 2020. Since then, they have developed a rich universe around The Weird Sisters, with their own unique physicality and indiosyncratic way of interacting with their audience. The sisters speak french and broken english, as well as communicating nonverbally.

AEMIA 6/9 & 7/9

"Soundscape Chronicles," an immersive journey into the realms of ambient, instrumental, and neoclassical music. AEMIA's performance aims to evoke a deep emotional connection through carefully crafted soundscapes and visual projections. By combining different loop techniques with tape recordings, string arrangements, electric guitars, voices, and ambient sounds, AEMIA aims to build a delicate sonic tapestry within an atmospheric environment. It is a unique 45-minute presentation, specially crafted for the festival. Join us for an evening of ambient instrumental music featuring analogue loops and visual projections.

The Gender Benders 6/9

Join us for an unforgettable night at the Gothenburg Fringe Festival! Experience the electrifying energy of Pop Punk in Drag, where we bring your favorite hits to life with a unique twist. Our drag punk rock band is ready to make you dance, sing, and party all night long!

The Gender Benders

Once upon a glitter-soaked night in a gritty underground club, DeeDee Strummer's rebellious chords collided with the electrifying riffs of Twitchy Love's guitar. Legends say Twitchy, a mischievous glam rock guitarist with a penchant for neon, accidentally spilled glitter on DeeDee's boots, marking the birth of The Gender Benders.

DeeDee, a fearless singer armed with rainbow lyrics, and Twitchy, the sparkly guitar maestro, decided to turn Twitchy's unintentional glitter incident into a wild musical experiment. Enter Justin Love, a bassist with a heart as thumping as his bass lines, who happened to be serenading Twitchy at their secret garden wedding. Joined by the enigmatic drummer, Iffy Slut, The Gender Benders emerged from the ashes of a playful joke, ready to smash gender norms and rock the stage with a vibrant rebellion against the ordinary. Together, they'd defy expectations, belt out anthems of love and liberation, and leave audiences questioning everything, all while donning outfits that could outshine the most dazzling constellations.

Trombonemagic 7/9 & 8/9

Trombonemagic is an entertaining concert by the virtuoso trombonist and multiple award-winning performer Elias Faingersh. However, this is a reshaped version that includes guest appearances by an eleven-year-old oboe artist and a slightly eccentric comedienne.

Elias Faingersh is known as the “one-man orchestra”. The musical phrases and melodies are masterfully performed and recorded live with the help of a loop-machine, and – layering on top of each other – create a wonderful polyphonic effect. In his compositions Faingersh smoothly combines classical music, klezmer and jazz.

“Trombonemagic” is a performance where Elias Faingersh is at once a composer, a musical performer, a dramatic actor, a clown and a stand up artist. Now he has reshaped this show by bringing his family on board - a unique experience of sharing, of merging art and life.
