Discreet Music

Discreet Music is a record label but also a record store that opened in Gothenburg in January 2020. The label has become a home for acts like Enhet För Fri Musik, Treasury Of Puppies, Astrid Øster Mortensen, Juho Toivonen, Eftergift, Arv & Miljö, and Jon Collin. On November 2nd, we are celebrating - a bit early - our 5-year anniversary at Oceanen!

FRANCISKA & EMILIE (DK)

Jonas Torstensen from Odense has, despite his young age, already been active for many years in the Scandinavian underground scene. Under the name Franciska, Jonas has been making music since 2021, and the debut album *Tryghed* was released on Discreet Music in early 2023. Now based in Copenhagen, Jonas has started making more and more music with his friend Emilie, and their new self-titled duo album, set to be released in October, is about their shared hometown of Odense. Lo-fi, ambient cassette music, often featuring piano and field recordings.

SEWER ELECTION (GBG)

For over 20 years, Dan Johansson has been making music as Sewer Election, a legend in Swedish noise music and also one of the bigger international names in the genre. Many associate Sewer Election with harsh noise, but the discography is wide and multifaceted by now. For example, both volumes of *Psychic Panorama*, released by Sewer Election on Discreet Music, offer monotonous, psychedelic synth-based music. The refusal to stagnate or repeat himself makes every Sewer Election performance exciting, regardless of which direction is taken.

DEMETERS DÖTTRAR (DK/SWE)

One of the newer acts on the label, which released its debut album *Søndag I Spejlet* earlier this year. The core members are Charlott Malmenholt and Ida Skibsted, but who constitutes a daughter seems to be fluid, depending on the occasion and situation. The band performed a celebrated show in a packed Discreet Music store during the album release and also played at the Narraus festival in Finland this summer. Musically, they move somewhere in the borderland between text-sound compositions and lo-fi folk, and the result is as unique as it is uncompromising and beautiful.

BLOD (GBG)

Discreet Music’s own Gustaf Dicksson’s solo project, currently in focus with the album *Helvetet På Jorden Skona Ingen, Fast Gud Älskar Dig*, which is the closest we get to a proper choir album. The concert will be based on material from the record and performed with a small choir.
