Demokrati Pågår – En föreställning

The Institute for Art and Chaos invites you to an artistic investigation of the Tidöavtalet:

The year is 2022. Sweden has gone to election. A new government has been formed, and a new agreement has been drawn up, the Tidöavtalet. The Tidöavtalet is Sweden's agreement for our collective society. What does the agreement contain? For (and against) whom has it been written?

DEMOKRATI PÅGÅR (Democracy in Progress) is a multi-disciplinary performance that takes us through the Tidöavtalet. With dance, live music, discussions and performances, we dive into democracy and how it is practiced today.

The performance encourages reflection on events happening in the society. By bringing together artistic expressions, we aim to promote agency, provoke critical thinking, and inspire conversations about democracy. The performance emphasises our collective responsibility and the impact of our current actions on future generations.

Instead of dismissing issues as uncomfortable or too difficult, we work with discomfort. Ensuring that discomfort is maintained at a time when indifference itself is a source of discomfort. There is discomfort in the feelings or actions required to continually defend the lives of the persecuted, and over time, this places us in a position as witnesses to the seemingly unstoppable and increasingly unimaginable.

Created by Saga Björklund Jönsson and Aako Raoofi.

The performance is approximately 60 minutes long. Afterward, we encourage everyone to stay and continue the conversation with us and each other. We offer music, visions of the future, and a lively dance floor!

Accessibility

The Cultural Center Oceanen is a Q-marked culturally historical building, which is challenging when it comes to accessibility. We do our best to have as many people as possible visit us. When visiting us with mobility aids the best-suited entrance is through the stage. This entrance is accessed via Gathenhielmska trädgården. The entrance is locked, please email us the day before your visit or the latest Friday at 16:00 if you are visiting us during the weekend. We have a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. Personal assistants do not need to purchase their own ticket, but we ask you to contact us in advance so we can issue a ticket for the person.
Please note that flashing lights may occur during concerts and events. For questions regarding accessibility email Mia Herman at mia@oceanen.com.
